I'm trying to decide between Joe's Seafood, Steak and Stone Crab and Gibsons for a steak dinner. I've heard great things about Joe's but also heard Gibsons is the Chicago Steakhouse must. Anyone have an opinion?

Hello E,
I have tried Joes twice and regard it as an abject failure as Lettuce Entertain You joints go(Wildfire is another LEY restaurant that is much better). Mediocre food at way over the top prices. Gibsons on the other had will tear your head off but in a good way.

Hi Elizabeth! Both Gibsons and Joe's are great choices! I'm personally not a big meat eater, but Joe's is my favorite restaurant and everyone raves about their steak. Be sure to try their sweet potato fries and key lime pie for dessert...it's amazing!

The best steakhouses in Chicago....
Rosebud Steakhouse. Yes, really.
The Saloon.
Morton's , the new one.
Smith and Wollensky.
these are in no particular order.
Gibson's is good if you can stand the annoying 50 yr. old men hitting on everything young enough to be their granddaughter.

I thought Lawry's was kind of an old fashioned restaurant. The waitresses look like nurses in their crazy uniforms. There isn't much of an alternative to prime rib, which by the way is fantastic. It's just not very hip and dynamic. It's worth trying once - it's a traditional, old school restaurant where they serve the salad to you out of a big salad bowl. Beware if you don't like beets on your salad though. =)

Fair points, definitely a little staid. But the meat was red, so I was happy :)

Thanks everyone! I went to Joe's and thought it was amazing! I'll have to try Lawry's, Morton's, and Grotto as well. Thank you for your suggestions!
